CN Craig North Engineering Executive & Systems Architect

San Jose, California · Engineering Executive & Systems Architect

I build the products — and the teams that ship them.

Two decades turning hard engineering problems into shipped products — from Tesla and NIO to Samsung and Weavix. I've architected connected vehicles, AI-vision platforms, and secure communications, and built the global teams that delivered them. I lead from the front, and I'm still close enough to the code to know it works.

  • 56+ commercially launched products across automotive, AI, vision, consumer, and communications
  • Global engineering organizations scaled to 90+ engineers across three continents
  • Equally fluent in firmware, AI systems, board presentations, and IPO execution

About

Two decades at the intersection of embedded systems, products, and AI.

For twenty years I've worked where embedded systems, large-scale product development, and emerging technology meet — from safety-critical automotive electronics to AI platforms. My foundation is electrical engineering and ISO 26262 systems, delivered across global OEMs including Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, McLaren, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Tesla, and NIO — environments where failure is not an option.

Over time I moved from individual components to full vehicle platforms, and then to cross-domain architectures spanning embedded software, Linux, cloud, security, and real-time data. I've contributed to 50+ shipped products and multiple patented innovations, and built and led engineering organizations of up to 100 people across three continents.

What ties it together is a preference for ambitious, undefined problems. I'm at my best taking ownership of a concept, shaping its direction, building the team and architecture around it, and scaling it into a robust, production-ready system — bringing multiple domains into one cohesive platform.

Track record

Two decades of shipped products.

Executive leadership and hands-on engineering across automotive, consumer, AI, and connected products — at marquee companies and startups built from scratch.

Independent R&D · A personal thesis

Where I think AI is heading.

Mira / C.OS is my own bet on the next decade of AI — and a prototype I'm actively building to test it. One cognitive architecture at three scales: MIRA for the individual, Meeting Intelligence for the room, and C.OS for groups working toward shared goals. Independent of my work at Weavix.

Still building

From hypercars to home servers.

At work I've shipped everything from a record-setting hypercar to secure mesh radios. On my own time, I still architect and build complete systems end to end — full-stack apps, home infrastructure, and embedded hardware.

Technologies I've shipped with across firmware, backend, and product work.

How I lead

Build teams that outlast me — and stay technical the whole way down.

  1. Build teams that last: hire well, grow people, and leave behind orgs that outperform without me.
  2. Lead from the front — close enough to the architecture and the code to make the hard calls.
  3. Design for reliability, observability, and real-world constraints from day one.
  4. Ship incrementally across firmware, backend, and infrastructure — prove it works, then scale.
